Edmonton's e-mail

Hello  Gaétan,

For the past 10 years I have been researching my  mother's maternal line, in particular my great-grandmother Flora  Anne/Florence Le Bourdaloue. Nothing was known to us except she had a  brother Levi John and two sisters, Delphine and Caroline Le Bourdaloue. The  family name Le Boudaloue had different spellings in different records.  Caroline and Delphine were believed to have gone to Quebec to become  nuns in the Roman Catholic church.

A few weeks ago I received an email from a  lady (Caroline Alice is her maternal ancestor) who seen my 1999 email search  of Yves Le Bourdaloue & Adelphine Benoit saying their two  daughters, my 2 great grandaunts,  had married and had children. Also  that Caroline Alice and Delphine had siblings Francois and Marie who  would be in addition to the two, Flora Anne and Levi who were baptized in  Newfoundland. Francois and Marie are said to have died in St. Pierre  Miquelon at an early age but I found a marriage certificate for Marie at  Quebec. A mystery there!

Now this week I found your website that shows a  photo of Caroline Alice.  It's truly amazing. Of course we are  descendants of Yves Le Bourdaloue and Delphine Benoit who married in  Newfoundland where their daughter,my great grandmother, Flora Anne stayed  and married. I also found out Yves and Delphine died at St Pierre  Miquelon.

In  2005 National Geographic started a project called The Genographic Project  offering mtdna and ydna tests to discover your deepest ancestry. Because of  my difficulty finding info on that part of my ancestry I decided to do the  test. Much to my surprise my direct maternal line earliest ancestor was  native. The haplogroup our direct maternal line belongs to is X2a2. Due  to lack of records or that ancestor existing before record taking we may  never know who she was.

For all those years there was no record of what  happened to the family and those descendants who live on the island and  elsewhere probably still don't know what happened to them.  I was able  to tell my 80+ uncle's family what happened.

Anyway I am so happy to have come across your  genealogy. Your information there is very interesting. Thanks for making it  accessable.

best regards, Kathleen
